Review

Four scenes revolving around sex between steps. This was the first movie in the "Tabu Tales" series.

The first and last scene involve a woman and her step-son; the second, a man and his step-daughter; the third, step-siblings. All of the scenes are preceded by a short story, usually about five minutes, that establishes the relationship between the characters. The ones for the second and third scene carried a lot of sexual tension, and the one for the last at least helped make sense of what happened sexually. The story for the first was harder to get into, as neither of the characters was very sympathetic.

The last scene is really terrific, and somewhat unusual. You don't often see a woman in porn use a vibrator while she is fucking. But Brenda James uses two different ones, as well as a butt plug, and she has at least four orgasms. The way she and Logan Pierce talk to each other throughout the scene is great, as well.

The other three scenes, however, are not as good. The sex in the first, with India Summer and Van Wylde, is reasonably passionate, and she makes some attempt to carry the story through the scene, but the sex ends up becoming a bit rote. The second scene, with Penelope Stone and the inimitable Steven St Croix, is the best of the rest, and the restrained passion as they kiss at the beginning is very sexy. But once they start fucking, especially, the sex gets routine, again. The third scene, with Jessa Rhodes and Tyler Nixon, starts out very hot, too, as she discovers him sniffing her panties and finds she is turned on by it. But the heat doesn't continue. And none of these women ever seem to be anywhere near orgasm.

None of these scenes are bad, though, and all of them are enjoyable.

The camera work is a bit inconsistent. It tends to be really, really good at the beginnings of the scenes, but then to become more pornish—too focused on the woman—once they start fucking.

So the movie overall is good but not great. But, as we said, this was the first movie in this series, and our sense is definitely that they get better over time.

Family Business was nominated for best vignette release at the 2014 AVN Awards and 2014 XBiz Awards, and for Best Porn Movie at the TLA RAW Awards.

Scene 1: Hot and Bothered (India Summer and Van Wylde, ♀♂)

The woman of the house (India Summer) has a habit of asking her step-son Zack (Van Wylde) to do yard work in the summer so she can watch him. He catches her masturbating through her dress when he walks into the kitchen. The next day, he asks her what she was thinking about, then tells her he was thinking about her. So they start having sex.

The story lasts about four minutes. To be honest, we didn't find it all that exciting, as it doesn't really convey much of anyone's attraction to anyone else, and neither of the characters is particularly likeable.

The sex itself is reasonably passionate, and she makes some effort to continue the story through the scene. But he does little more than talk dirty to her, which doesn't add much, and there is not a great connection between them. She seems to enjoy herself somewhat, but never seems terribly aroused. The ending—he cums into her mouth and onto her chin—is not totally pornish, but it is a bit pornish.

The camera work is all right, but the focus is too much on her too often. When they are 69, for example, we only see her sucking him. There are also some weird lighting issues that lead to heavy pixelation in places.

Scene 2: Dancing Around the Truth (Penelope Stone and Steven St Croix, ♀♂)

Martina (Penelope Stone) is getting married, and she has asked her step-father (Steven St Croix) to walk her down the aisle. That means they need to practice dancing together, which they do, since he is not much of a dancer. They end up having a deep conversation about both of their relationships, and she confesses that there is no "heat", no "sexual energy" between her and her fiancé. They go back to dancing, and she says she wants to feel with her fiancé what she feels with her step-father. "We shouldn't be doing this", he says. "We're already doing this", she replies, and she kisses him.

The story is very well acted and lasts about 5:30. The sexual tension between them is very hot.

There is a terrific connection between them, which is well established by the story. The sex is passionate in a restrained sort of way at the beginning, with meaningful pauses and desperate glances. There are wonderful moments when they are about to kiss, then stop to look at each other, then do kiss, finally. But they do not do a terribly good job carrying the fantasy through the scene. There are moments when they do, but the overall sense is that they might as well just be lovers. The sex also seems to become a bit rote toward the end. The larger problem is that she never seems terribly aroused, though she does seem to enjoy herself

There is a wonderful intimacy to the camera work, especially at the beginning. There are some really excellent closeups of their faces and bodies. But it becomes a bit more predictable once they start fucking, and she is too much the focus at times, especially when they are doggy style.

Scene 3: Airing Dirty Laundry (Jessa Rhodes and Tyler Nixon, ♀♂)

Ashley (Jessa Rhodes) discovers her step-brother Jason (Tyler Nixon) sniffing her panties while doing the laundry—and she finds she likes the idea. She confesses that she saw him, and that she went back to her room and masturbated thinking about it. He thinks she's fucking with him, so she lifts her skirt, takes off her panties, and sticks them in his face.

The story, which lasts about four mintues, is really sexy, and very well acted. They make some effort to carry it through, but they do not do so as well as they might. They keep grabbing her panties, as if they might do something with them, but they never really do, and they do not really talk to each other as brother and sister.

There is some passion in the sex, but the heat that is established by the story doesn't really continue, which is too bad. In the end, it just feels quite routine.

The camera work is very good, with a nice mix of shots, especially at the beginning. Once they start fucking, though, it becomes a more standard, and we lose him from time to time.

Scene 4: The Awakening (Brenda James and Logan Pierce, ♀♂)

So he gets her to use some of the toys with him.

The story, which lasts about five and a half minutes, is sexy and well done. They carry it through the scene, in so far as they continue to use toys, but there is no further sign that she is his step-mother.

There is a pretty good connection between them, and it is great how they talk to each other throughout, in a very natural way. The sex is passionate, as well. It is very unusual, and very nice, to see a woman use a vibrator the way she does, while she is fucking him. She has four orgasms, at least. The blowjob at the end, with him cumming in her mouth, is completely natural, too.

The camera work is pretty good, though there is something close to a POV shot when she is sucking him, and we do lose him at times, especially when she is reverse at the end.
