In September 2014, New Sensations launched a new series, "Tales From the Edge", taking the earlier Tales From the Heart series in a somewhat kinkier direction. The first release was I Love My Hotwife, which explored "hotwifing", in which a woman has sex with other men, with her husband's knowledge and encouragement (and, sometimes, participation). Some of the themes overlap with those that Jacky St James has explored elsewhere: The Restraint movies explore BDSM, more from a psychological than from a mechanical perspective; and Almost Relatives might just as well have been released in the Tabu Tales series.
Most of these movies are collections of vignettes, with a brief story that introduces the characters and their relationship. But (as of this writing) there have also been two releases in the series that tell a single story.
There are some good movies here, and we have especially appreciated the ways in which St James has managed to avoid a lot of the sexist and even racist stereotypes that characterize many movies in the hotwife genre. On the other hand, however, we have found many of these movies to be disappointing, especially more recently. The sex itself, and the camera work, is often nearly indistinguishable from "mainstream" porn. It is rough without explanation or negotiation, in way that makes rough sex feel ordinary, and it is often shot with an overwhelmingly male gaze.
The first fifteen movies in this series were all directed by Jacky St James. The movie Fantasies, released in November 2015, was partially directed by her, but also by Eddie Powell and Paul Woodcrest. It appears to us to be even more similar to mainstream porn than the other movies in this series.
